Getting Ready for a New Year - Inspiration Insight No.69

Hey Quester’s, hope you have been enjoying some time off and a good sleep-in! Victoria and South Australia seem to be having rain and storms for a few days, though we managed to go to Torquay beach yesterday even though we had light rain the whole time we were there. It was still fun and gave the kids a chance to get some energy out! There is a kind of calmness in the atmosphere which is great for slowing down and giving the mind and body a well-needed rest; that said there are still some preparations needed for 2017.

The time between Christmas and New Year is pivotal for a smooth transition to any new year. In fact you see more people dropping off their pre-loved goods at the charity shop than any other time after a good clean-up. It is a great time to create extra room in wardrobes, kitchen cupboards, laundries, lounge rooms and garages with miscellaneous boxes. Your technology may also need a clear out of old or unnecessary files. Think we will definitely make a trip to our combined tip and recycling centre. There is nothing like creating some space to help clear the mind, otherwise there is a backlog of things you can’t be bothered doing and that clutters your thinking and builds pressure. Just pick a something and make a start!

Empower Your Quest - Inspirational Insight No.68

Hey Quester’s, if I haven’t explained that word for a while, it simply means people on their personal quests. Well it has been quite a year on a global scale; many have had their dreams, goals, pursuits put on hold indefinitely and entered territory that they would never have imagined. All you can do when you are thrust into alarming territory is survive, hold onto your family and try not to lose faith in humanity. Those in far better situations can help and since we are in an extended phase of exposing dark corners of the world, help is still needed. Learn what you can from reputable sources then face this challenge bravely with compassion and empathy. It’s not easy to look at things that are abhorrent, but continued dis-regard helps no one.

Your personal quest is a source of empowerment and you continue to the best of your abilities because you are driven by passion. Your focus is strong because you can see the beauty of each moment, and lots of interesting moments make a good life. Your Quest rests firmly on your beliefs so re-empower them before your next important phase of growth. You have something to do – so keep moving towards that goal. Meditate deeply, ask questions and see if an answer appears over the next few days. Your soul always has something to say! If you remove the old stagnant layers new insights will flow. If you feel a bit stuck or lethargic this year, find a way to regain your energy. Even some fresh air and exercise can help clear a foggy mind. You are needed!

Your Personal Best - Inspirational Insight No. 67

Hey Quester’s, we are up early to watch the Olympic opening ceremony, the kids are very excited. Rio puts on a world famous carnival parade, so it should be able to put on a great opening ceremony. Though these games are full of controversy the Olympic Games are a uniting force where nations meet in happy circumstances. Athletes compete to achieve their personal best for their countries and as individuals. What is your personal best in 2016?

We often don’t give ourselves enough credit for what we achieve, especially in Australia where the, ‘tall poppy syndrome,’ is part of our culture. We are not boasters anyone that does in quickly demoted! In countries that have a Christian foundation it probably has more to do with the first of the seven deadly sins (the Bible) – pride. Pride has a double meaning, but it can be very positive. Each country has its own unique cultural norms.  In Australia we boost our children up and as adults we are slightly less encouraging because we expect people to toughen up and figure things out for themselves. Luckily we have softened a bit over the years.

Your personal best (at any time) needs some time in the sun – have pride in yourself and your achievements – this is your reward! If you have put the work in and created something wonderful, celebrate! It’s all right to tell people what you have done! Don’t sit back with some marvelous accomplishment, tell someone about it! Anyone that cuts you down is no friend at all – jealousy is a real sin! Accept that most people have made some serious efforts to achieve what they have. We all have undulating highs and lows, support is the answer.

Cheer for yourself, family and friends. Cheer for all nations and all efforts at the Rio Olympic Games. Thousands of people organised this event over six years, they need a medal too!

Travel for a Broader Understanding - Inspirational Insight No.66

Hey Quester’s, I’m back from an adventure in Europe with the family and five weeks later I'm still getting back into the rhythm of things. Routine’s not a bad thing, but think I’m still playing catch-up. I’ve nearly caught up with the paperwork, emails, letters, unpacking, cleaning and digging out a winter wardrobe. Autumn was still warm when we left; it was five degrees when we stepped out of the airport.

Though I’ve been to a few places I remember one women dealing with culture shock on a tour years ago that had her in a bit of a tangle. This is to be expected in any culture that differs greatly from your own, or your first overseas trip. It may not even be the culture itself that upsets some people, but a lack of what they are used to back home. Change can be challenging in some circumstances, though being open and giving it a chance is recommended for an enjoyable holiday. Pacing yourself is also desirable, exhaustive travel gives you little time for contemplation and to soak up the atmosphere. A little pre-holiday research will certainly make you feel at ease.

Travel broadens your view of life and a vast amount of knowledge and experience are equally enjoyable. Seeing how people live in a different nation brings clarity, empathy, joy and growth. Then all you need to do is use all that information and experience to enhance your life and Quest. If possible write your adventure down to enhance those memories and any inspirations that come to mind. Few of us have an amazing memory.

We have done more travelling in the last forty years than at any other time. Generally modern transport is making is easier and faster to see distant countries, so pick a destination, save your money, do the paperwork and get out there!

Strength through Serenity - Inspirational Insight No. 65

Hey Quester’s, wishing you strength and serenity on this fine day! It is going to be a very hot 38 degrees today in Victoria, but now it’s a calm and balmy morning. I sit in my fernery with laptop ready as I take in the sounds and visual greenery and the odd flower glowing with colour. I’m almost in that meditative stage, when the temperature brings that involuntary relaxation that makes you drift off. I’d say we all need more of that. All you can feel is a blissful strength!

Calmness is not always equated with strength, but when you think about people who have made a real difference in the world – that is the quality they seem to have in common. We all get angry about things we think are wrong, but eventually we calm down and find wise ways to get out message across. Personal or spiritual strength makes a person strong, so they can achieve more at their own pace. When unexpected challenges hits, find that calm centeredness. Work through the problem and ask for help if it feels like a large workload. Working together in unity is for the strong, because decision making requires good listening skills and diplomacy. Bring your life experience to the problem and the path will clear even sooner.

Make serenity a part of your day; I believe everyone needs this if they have a busy life and growing family! Turn TV and devices off, have some quite time, read a book or sit with your children and really listen to them. Slow down your world! You can still be as creative as you like and when you think about it, most artisans, artists, writers, poets, philosophers and photographers do their best work in peaceful settings. Play quiet peaceful music, if you can’t get outside due to bad weather. Roll with the changes! Do the things that bring you strength through serenity.

The Age of Awakening: Reinvent Yourself in 2016 - Inspirational Insight No. 64

Hey Quester’s, hope you are having a great holiday season? The last few years have been about exposure, when hidden or bad things have risen to the surface for all to see. I believe the time from now on is about heightened awakening. You could call this Millennium ‘The Age of Awakening.’ We have become highly spiritual and compassionate and what’s right or wrong has a clear divide! As a people we have discovered the hidden things that make us unhealthy, we are outraged when justice is not served, we can see through the advertising propaganda that distorts our view of daily life, we will not put up with corrupt governments and we are restoring the environment which we degraded. We are strong and passionate and we can see clearly.

In 2016 stay true to the wonderful person you are, but add a few changes to make life even better. Reinvent yourself this year, energise your spirit and do something extraordinary. Only you know what that is, and if you don’t contemplate what that means to you, or meditate on a vibrant new you! This is about adding a little flare, passion or adventure to your life. Don’t sit quietly, make some noise. Focus on the things that are most important. We are often scattered in our thinking because we have created such busy lives, but if we focus on one thing at a time and give it our full attention we create joy from our progress. This is not an easy task with our mind constantly stretching into the past and future. I often think of us as having two components to the mind; one doing the major task at hand and the radar assistant that picks up information and breaks in when needed (I know that sounds a bit left/right brain, but there could be more to it than that). The radar assistant is like that news update tape running across the bottom of your television – it’s always running something but the important things break through and disrupt your focus. In that case write it down before you forget (consider it later) and go back to your task. Even think about brain health this year – What keeps your mind sharp and clear? All is lost without your amazing mind!

Don’t dumb down – dress down – or give yourself away!

Have fun, be silly, try something new, have an adventure, be creative, share love and laugh a lot.

Be your authentic self in 2016!
